Our History
Our family medicine residency was established in 2008 as an osteopathic program. As our initial class size was three, we have gradually increased our class size to nine residents per year. We became fully ACGME accredited in 2018 and now graduate both MD and DO residents. Many of our graduates choose to practice in the Willamette Valley or stay within the Pacific Northwest after residency.
Our Mission
We prioritize community in all that we do! Through a rigorous and supportive learning environment, our family medicine residents are valued as colleagues and individual learners. We focus on training full spectrum physicians who can be leaders in their communities and understand population health, run an inter-disciplinary team, all while providing excellent care to their patients.
Our Vision
To be recognized as a training program committed to excellence in “community medicine,” and whose residents thrive and feel at home in Corvallis, Oregon.
Our How
We aim to recruit and mentor residents who are curious, growth minded and motivated as they develop the skills and knowledge necessary to take care of diverse patients across the lifespan. Our program continually adapts to the learner, to the health system and to the needs of our patient communities.
Samaritan’s Graduate Medical Education program positions graduates well to excel as physicians. Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center is the hub for training residents enrolled in the program.
