Bio:

Dr. Lau, a clinical psychologist, provides behavioral health care and support. He specializes in various treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing, for the treatment of mood, anxiety and substance-use syndromes across the lifespan beginning at age 6.

He has experience using evidence-based approaches, such as prolonged exposure, to reduce trauma-related symptoms in primary care. He also has experience using semi-structured or structured diagnostic instruments to make differential diagnoses of commonly comorbid conditions.

The foundation of his passion for clinical work stems from a strong drive to advance scientific discovery, foster collaborative empiricism and improve accessibility to psychological treatment. When working with patients, he views himself as a co-learner and heavily relies on his graduate training in quantitative methods and applied measurement to achieve short-term and long-term symptom relief.

Dr. Lau has an array of hobbies, including fencing, playing the violin and learning French cooking. He also enjoys spending quality time with his partner, going on bike rides, hiking and taking walks.
