At Samaritan Health Services, we are committed to providing an exceptional experience to every patient, every time. As part of that commitment, we post our providers’ star reviews online. All reviews are submitted by actual patients and de-identified for confidentiality and patient privacy.
By completing post-visit surveys, you are delivering feedback to our providers and helping community members make informed choices about their health care and the medical providers who serve them.
Samaritan’s Star Review score is an average of all responses to provider-related questions on the national Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) patient experience survey administered through Press Ganey. Press Ganey works with more than 26,000 health care facilities nationwide, and over 60% of U.S. hospitals, to improve the safety, quality and experience of care. The survey was developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for use in hospitals and health care practices across the country.
Star reviews are based on the average score of responses in the care provider section of the survey.
Questions include:
To help you find a provider that meets your needs, you can also see related videos and articles they may have participated in. Type the provider’s name into the provider field of the search page to find news and videos. If your primary care provider is referring you to a specialist, your PCP would also be a good source of information.
After a minimum of 30 survey responses for a provider are received in a rolling 12-month period, the provider’s star review is published. More data gives a more accurate picture and that’s why we wait for a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys before we post a star review.
Providers who are in administrative roles and don’t see patients, or don’t see enough patients, will not have a star review. Hospital inpatient providers are excluded because patients are often cared for by multiple providers during a hospital stay. Resident physicians who are still in training and walk-in clinic providers, such as those that primarily work in Urgent Care or SamCare Express locations, are also excluded.
The survey is mailed and emailed to randomly chosen Samaritan Health Services patients within a few days after their visits. Patients are asked to fill out the survey and give comments about specific aspects of care. We use this feedback to improve all aspects of the clinic experience. Our goal is to provide each patient with exceptional care. Each year, we receive more than 20,000 responses from patients who receive care in our outpatient clinics.
Patient names are not displayed in the online reviews. All personally identifiable information is removed.
We want you to get the best care possible and that starts with being comfortable with your provider. That relationship is critical to achieving trust, satisfaction and positive outcomes. You are actively involved in your care and we want to be transparent in helping you find the best fit for you.
Survey reviews shared on this website also benefit providers. Our providers receive their patient reviews relative to peers on a monthly basis. Providers are asked to continually monitor their patients’ feedback.
Comments come from any open-ended comment box within the survey. We are committed to posting positive and negative feedback. However, we do not post comments that are libelous, slanderous, profane or those that risk the privacy of our patients.

When you complete post-visit surveys after you visit your provider, you are contributing to a provider’s star review.
