A program of Samaritan Health Services, the mobile medicine program launched in 2018 thanks to a generous donation by the Pastega Family Foundation. At the center of the program is a 40-foot vehicle equipped with two clinical exam rooms, a check-in area and restroom. Staffed by Samaritan clinicians, SamCare Mobile Medicine offers patients much of what they would find in a typical walk-in clinic.
SamCare Mobile Medicine is one of a growing number of mobile medical programs across the United States working to boost health care access, especially among underserved communities, while helping to decrease costly emergency room visits.
Patients can be seen for illnesses such as earache, minor infections, flu-like symptoms, sprains or strains, small cuts or abrasions, minor burns, mild asthma, urinary tract infections, mental health screenings and other concerns. Patients can also receive vaccinations or be seen for a routine check-up. We are not able to provide X-ray services on the vehicle.
Members of the community are welcome to use the mobile unit while at most of our locations. If you have insurance, please bring your insurance card. If you do not have insurance, our staff can help connect you with insurance or a Samaritan Health Services financial services program. In some circumstances, health care services can be provided at no cost to the patient.
