Siletz Funds Benefit Samaritan Patients November 14, 2019 Samaritan Health Services has received nearly $30,000 in generous contributions from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund (STCCF) toward the Mario Pastega House in Corvallis and cardiac rehabilitation services in Newport. The Pacific Communities Health District Foundation (PCHDF) received $19,521 for new cardiac rehabilitation equipment in the new Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. Scheduled to open in March 2020, the new center will be three times the size of the existing center. “Because Samaritan is a nonprofit health care provider, charitable support is crucial to the fulfillment of our mission,” said Ursula Marinelli, PCHDF executive director. “The STCCF has been a great partner in helping us equip the new hospital in Newport. We are thrilled that our cardiac rehabilitation patients will have more space to exercise and now, thanks to the STCCF, they will have the latest equipment.” The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation received $10,000 for services at the Mario Pastega House, located on the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center campus. This brings to the total of contributions from the Siletz fund to $69,000 toward the Mario Pastega House since 2006. “The Siletz tribe has been one of our most loyal supporters throughout the life of the Pastega House,” said Brad Betz, director of oncology services and the Pastega House. “Their continued partnership and support will be invaluable as we expand the house to serve more patients who have to travel here for care.” An expansion of the Pastega House will be complete in 2020, doubling the size of the house to 24 patient rooms. Rooms at the house are available to patients and their families who must travel more than 25 miles to the GSRMC campus for surgery and other medical treatments.
