Samaritan’s Breast Cancer Care Earns Accreditation April 13, 2016 The Samaritan Cancer Program recently earned accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The prestigious accreditation examines all aspects of breast cancer care and the patient experience. NAPBC-accredited breast cancer care ensures that a patient has access to: Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options Access to prevention and early detection programs, cancer education and support services The accreditation is administered by the American College of Surgeons, with rigorous evaluation of six components of a multidisciplinary breast team: radiology, pathology, surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology and plastic surgery. “Most people are looking for a multidisciplinary breast team, a place where they can receive diagnosis, treatment and reconstruction,” said David Faddis, MD, who specializes in surgical oncology and breast surgery. “This accreditation says that we offer that, and that we’re very, very good at it. We’re proud to offer women truly comprehensive breast cancer care close to home,” he said. Faddis chairs Samaritan’s Breast Steering Committee which is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to innovative, local breast health care.
