Samaritan Welcomes Sarah de Forest, MD December 16, 2022 Play Video Sarah de Forest, MD, has joined Samaritan Medical Group Family Medicine – Ninth St. in Corvallis. She provides primary care for people of all ages, as well as family planning, skin biopsies and other in-office procedures. Dr. de Forest earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree at University of California Berkeley. She completed a medical degree at University of Illinois at Chicago and residency training at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Before becoming a doctor, she taught chemistry. She changed careers to become a physician because of her desire to serve the community. Family medicine appealed to her because it allows her to treat both mental and physical health conditions. “My approach to patient care is very holistic,” Dr. de Forest said. “I feel that I should be a partner with my patient. I try to cultivate that kind of relationship.” After completing her residency with Samaritan, Dr. de Forest chose to stay because she valued the patient-centered approach to care and she enjoyed living in the area. “I have strong ties to the Pacific Northwest,” she said. Dr. de Forest is married and has two children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her dog, cooking, gardening, reading, writing, traveling and watching movies.
