Samaritan Welcomes Rachel Shirley, DO, FACS November 10, 2021 Rachel Shirley, DO, has joined Samaritan Breast, Reconstructive & Surgical Oncology. She specializes in breast surgical oncology at the nationally accredited breast center. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Baylor University and a medical degree at University of North Texas Health Science Center. She completed residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Grant Medical Center. She performs lumpectomies, a breast conservation surgical technique, nipple-sparing mastectomies, breast biopsies, as well treating benign conditions. She also helps manage patients who are at high risk for breast cancer. Dr. Shirley wants her patients to understand the treatment process and to know all the options regarding their care. “I aim to provide the highest standard of care to all of my patients,” she said. “Breast cancer is a very difficult experience. I strive to provide passionate care while guiding them through this journey.” Dr. Shirley chose Samaritan because she felt welcomed by the staff at Samaritan Pastega Regional Cancer Center and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. “Everyone showed dedication toward patients and the community,” she said. Dr. Shirley is married and has a 2-year-old daughter. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time outdoors with her family.
