Samaritan Welcomes Pediatrician Shellie Russell-Skerski, MD February 5, 2021 Shellie Russell-Skerski, MD, has joined Samaritan Health Center – Newport. She provides a full range of health care to children from birth through age 18. Dr. Russell-Skerski earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin School of Medicine. She completed residency training at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She decided her future profession in third grade, when she dressed up as a doctor. “I have never changed my mind,” she said. With parents who were teachers, pediatrics was a natural choice for Dr. Russell-Skerski. “I love learning about my patients and their families,” she said. “I love watching them grow and change.” Dr. Russell-Skerski practiced in a small town in rural Ohio for the past 20 years and was looking for a similar setting in Oregon to be near family. “I want to be part of the community I work in,” she said. “I look forward to making many new friends.” In her free time, Dr. Russell-Skerski is learning Italian and belongs to a book club. She has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoys being outdoors, playing piano, knitting and spending time with family and pets. She is accepting new patients and can be reached at 541-265-8816.
