Samaritan Welcomes Amie Keys, MSN, FNP January 17, 2022 Play Video Family Nurse Practitioner Amie Keys has joined Samaritan Internal Medicine – Corvallis. She provides primary care for adults. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Linfield College and a master’s degree in nursing at Gonzaga University. Keys has worked at Samaritan for 15 years, first as a phlebotomist at Samaritan Albany General Hospital, later in intensive care and hospice nursing and most recently as a sexual assault nurse examiner at Sarah’s Place. “I have always loved helping people,” she said. “Becoming a nurse practitioner is the best way for me to treat patients through the many stages in their lives.” Keys has a background working with people who have experienced trauma and/or violence. She has an interest in caring for first responders and their families to address health disparities that affect people who work in law enforcement and emergency services. She also provides trauma-informed pelvic exams for people who have experienced sexual assault. She wants her patients to feel safe and empowered. She values open communication, confidentiality and integrity. “I build trust with my patients, which helps them to fully engage in their health care,” she said. Keys was able to pursue her education to become a family nurse practitioner with the support of her employer. “I appreciate Samaritan’s dedication to providing continuing education to its employees and community members,” she said. Keys chose to stay with Samaritan because she is aligned with the health system’s mission, vision and values. “I appreciate the emphasis Samaritan places on giving back to our community,” she said. Keys was born and raised in Springfield and has lived in the Willamette Valley her whole life. “I love our climate, the mountains, rivers, oceans and desert,” she said. She is married and has five children, two at home and three adults, and she has twin granddaughters. Away from the office, Keys enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, sewing, camping and being outdoors. “We have a little farm with a pet cow, a couple fainting goats, chickens, dogs and cats,” she said. “I love spending time with the animals and preserving food from our garden.” Keys is accepting new patients and can be reached at Samaritan Internal Medicine – Corvallis at 541-768-5140.
