Samaritan Text Messaging Adds Another Way to Communicate

Samaritan patients may opt in to receive text messages from Samaritan Health Services for information such as appointment reminders, one-time passcodes, payment and billing notifications, medication reminders and care management.

Text messages to patients will be clearly marked from Samaritan Health Services using the number 87107. The text number was recently updated to accommodate more text messaging functionality in the near future.

“Over the next year or so, we plan to roll out features such as texting the status of surgery patients to family members, screening reminders, prescription communications, questionnaires, education and test results,” said Denelle Crommett, manager of application systems for Samaritan IS Design and Operations. “Many patients find texts a very convenient way to receive simple messages about their health care. We encourage all patients to opt in!”

To sign up for these important text messages, text START to 87107 on your mobile phone. Patients may also sign up in MyChart from the main menu under Account Settings by selecting Communications Preferences and clicking the button next to “Text Message.”

Patients who no longer want to receive text messages from Samaritan can opt out by texting the reply STOP, and reminders will be delivered with phone calls instead. Patients experiencing issues with text messaging from Samaritan can reply with the keyword HELP for assistance or call 1-800-640-5339.
