Samaritan Pharmacy Moves To New Computer System

Starting Monday, July 27, Samaritan Pharmacy outlets will use Epic, the same electronic medical record system used by Samaritan clinics and hospitals. Using Epic will allow providers and pharmacists to see and share the same medication and allergy lists. It will also allow patients to use their MyChart patient portal account to view pharmacy information and order refills.

Prescription records from the past six months have transferred into the new system. Older records can still be accessed by a member of the pharmacy team, if needed. Comments such as: choice of delivery method, mailing information, special circumstances or credit card information were not transferable to the new system and have been permanently deleted from the old system for security purposes.

Samaritan Pharmacy patients can help the pharmacy by letting our staff know:

  • Your medication allergies.
  • Your mailing or delivery preferences.
  • Your preferred phone number.
  • Your primary and secondary insurance (if applicable).
  • Any special circumstances for billing.

The pharmacy was able to keep patient insurance information if it has been used in the last six months. Patients with more than one insurance coverage will need to let the pharmacy know which one(s) should be used.

“We ask that our patients please ‘pardon our progress’ as we all learn our new computer system together,” said Kevin Russell, outpatient pharmacy operations manager. “Prescriptions will take a little longer to fulfill and will require more conversations at first. Please allow more time for processing and be sure to let us know the best phone number to reach you.

“We are excited about our new modern computer system: It will lead to better service and the ability to work together with you and your doctor for your health and safety,” Russell said. “Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of transition!”
