New Lincoln City Hospital to Open in February January 14, 2020 With construction nearly complete on a brand-new hospital in Lincoln City, staff have begun training in their new spaces in preparation for the Feb. 4 opening. The new Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital is located directly east of the existing 51-year-old hospital it is replacing and takes full advantage of its beautiful setting; visitors will be greeted by a soaring glass entry and patients will enjoy views of Devils Lake from nearly every room. The new hospital was designed with efficient and flexible-use spaces, and with thought to making it easy for patients to find their way around. Additional Changes Onsite Building 5 Remodel An older building on campus is also being transformed. Originally a nursing home and later used as conference room space and medical student housing, Building 5 is being remodeled for use by non-clinical departments such as Administration, Patient Financial Services, Medical Records and Volunteers, as well as Physical Rehabilitation. The project completion will coincide with the opening of the new hospital. New Parking & Temporary Entry Once all departments have moved out of the old hospital, it will be demolished to make room for an expanded and environmentally-friendly parking area. The work on the new parking area will present some initial challenges for visitors, patients and staff as the main entry of the hospital will be inaccessible until June. During this time, entry to the new hospital will be via the south vestibule. Signs will be posted to guide patients and visitors. Use of the Emergency entrance will also be limited during this time to emergency vehicles and private vehicles bringing patients to the Emergency Department. Grand Opening This Summer When the new hospital and campus are entirely completed a celebration will be in order! Watch for details about a grand opening celebration to be held in August.
