Learn About Breast Self-exams at Free Presentation July 24, 2025 Patricia Harkleroad, lead mammographer coordinator at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, will present a talk on the importance of breast self-exams for early detection of cancer. The free presentation will take place on Friday, Aug. 29, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Samaritan Center for Health Education, 740 SW Ninth St. in Newport. Harkleroad will empower participants with life-saving knowledge, including how to do a self-check for breast cancer, signs to look for and when to take action, risk factors and how to lower your risk, and where to get screened and how to find other support. She will also provide easy-to-use guides and information about free or low-cost screenings.
