Cups of Coffee to Raise Awareness of Sexual Assault Services

During April, Sarah’s Place is raising awareness about their sexual assault services at local coffee shops. Margin Coffee and Pacific Perk locations in Albany are wrapping their to-go cups in a sleeve that directs individuals to learn more about Sarah’s Place, a sexual assault nurse examiners center for those who have experienced sexual violence.

The idea for the coffee sleeve came from a Sarah’s Place intern, Stephanie Vidrio, a Public Health student at Oregon State University. Sarah’s Place staff loved the idea and brought it to life.

“We are so happy to partner with local coffee shops to increase awareness of sexual assault services at Sarah’s Place,” said Tasha Mosbrucker, RN, a Sarah’s Place SANE nurse. “Sexual violence is not a subject that is talked about regularly and having this information on a coffee cup can start up these important conversations within our communities.”

Coffee sleeves will also be available at Samaritan coffee shops, cafés and cafeterias.

Sarah’s Place will also have an educational display in the Samaritan Albany General Hospital lobby April 2 to 12, 2019, and at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center entrance April 15 to 26, 2019.
