Construction Underway for New Entrance to Corvallis Hospital June 5, 2024 Phase one of the Elks Drive/Highway 99W realignment project has started with brush and tree removal and orange barrier fences installed protecting vegetation from the construction areas. When completed, the new roadway will include a traffic signal at the 99W intersection to provide safer and easier access to the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center campus and the surrounding neighborhoods. This first phase that includes the vegetation and tree removal is underway. The new roadbed is currently taking shape on the east side of Samaritan Drive. This phase will also include the relocation of infrastructure such as sewer lines. Most of the work will be done in areas away from the current roadways to minimize disruption to medical center and neighborhood access. In 2018, the Corvallis City Council approved the annexation of 17.3 acres of Samaritan’s 84-acre “North Campus” parcel to facilitate development of needed medical services and related parking. Part of that approval was contingent upon relocating and enhancing the Highway 99W entrance to the medical center campus to include turn lanes and a traffic signal. This work continues our commitment to and mission of building healthier communities together. Another ongoing mission-focused project is the remodeling of the Ridgeview Medical Building at the corner of Ninth Street and Elks Drive, which will open later this fall as a pediatric clinic.
