Cardiothoracic Surgeon Rabin Gerrah, MD, Joins Samaritan May 18, 2020 Samaritan Heart Center is pleased to welcome cardiothoracic surgeon Rabin Gerrah, MD. He comes to Samaritan through a partnership with Stanford Health Care, expanding access to life-saving procedures for local patients. Dr. Gerrah earned a medical degree and completed residency training at Hadassah Medical School. He completed fellowships with Harvard University Hospitals at Massachusetts General Hospital and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He specializes in treating heart disease, including coronary artery disease, valve problems and structural heart problems using minimally invasive approaches. He designs new medical devices and technologies and conducts medical research to develop innovative surgical techniques. Dr. Gerrah is also an appointed clinical assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford University. Dr. Gerrah traces his inspiration for becoming a doctor to his grandfather, who was also a surgeon. “Because of him, the desire to take care of people became my passion and purpose,” he said. “I want to help people restore their most valuable asset: their health.” Dr. Gerrah is driven to achieving the highest patient satisfaction and outcomes. He approaches patient care by imagining himself in his patient’s place. “I ask myself, ’How would I like to be treated?’ And that’s how I treat my patients,” he said. After working in many different states, Dr. Gerrah was eager to return to Oregon. “I enjoy living in one of the best places to raise a family and enjoy the region’s endless outdoor activities,” he said.
