We are so happy you have chosen Samaritan Albany General Hospital as the place to have your baby. Our Women’s Center has achieved a Birthing-Friendly designation and is home to a team highly trained in mother/baby care. We can’t wait to meet you!
As you prepare for your new little one, your maternity care team stands ready to help you on your journey. If you have questions at any time, please don’t hesitate to contact your care coordinator. Your care coordinator is your one-stop source for birthing plan discussion, registration information, maternity tours, breastfeeding and childbirth class recommendations, and more.
As you think through what you want your experience to be, communicate it to your care coordinator. In no time, the day will be here, and we’ll be ready for you and your new baby.
Best wishes on your journey.
To get familiar with your environment before delivery time comes, we encourage you and a support person to sign up for a tour.
The Women’s Center provides a welcoming, safe and secure environment for you and your new family.
We look forward to meeting you.
Make yourself at home in your birthing suite and prepare for your baby’s arrival. If you are having a C-section, your surgical suite will be a few steps away.
After your labor, delivery and recovery, you and your baby will continue to receive care and recover in a different room where you can introduce guests to your new baby!
Your private birthing suite features a flat screen TV, DVD player and free Internet. A jetted tub is available to help with relaxation during early labor.
Childbirth Preparation, Breastfeeding and Infant CPR classes are just a few of the excellent classes and support groups held at Samaritan Albany General Hospital for you and your family.
Every birth experience is unique. When you meet with your hospital maternity care coordinator, you can share with them the kind of birthing experience you desire. Who will be there with you? Do you want a natural birth, or medication to help with your comfort? Do you want to walk around or sit in the jetted tub during labor? Will you be breastfeeding?
This is your time! Since babies often have a mind of their own, not everything will go as planned. The preparation you do beforehand, though, will enable you to focus on what is most important – your experience and the birth of your baby!
