Free Legal Help Through Medical Legal Services Samaritan InterCommunity Health Clinic – Albany and Albany Legal Aid have formed a Medical Legal Partnership to provide no-cost legal assistance for clinic patients. How can the Medical Legal Partnership help? By providing assistance or referrals for non-criminal matters such as: Public benefits and medical assistance. Landlord/tenant issues. Unsafe or unsanitary living conditions. Utilities. Evictions. Custody and guardianship for children. Protection from abuse orders. Elder abuse. Name and gender marker changes. Who is eligible for Medical Legal Partnership assistance? You are eligible if: You are a patient of Samaritan InterCommunity Health Clinic – Albany. Your income is below 125% of federal poverty guidelines or you are 60 and older, regardless of income. How do I access the Medical Legal Partnership? If you have a legal issue you need assistance with, inform your provider or clinic staff. The clinic can refer you to the Medical Legal Partnership attorney, who visits the clinic twice monthly to meet with patients by appointment. The Medical Legal Partnership attorney will meet with you to assess your eligibility. All legal services are free for eligible clinic patients and confidential.
