Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Partial Hospitalization Program Intensive Treatment Without the Hospital Stay Samaritan Mental Health’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a comprehensive, short-term intensive treatment program. It can be used following hospitalization or as a preventative step to stabilize patients in the community. The program allows patients to continue to meet personal responsibilities and maintain independence while receiving treatment. PHP patients spend the day in the program, but they live at home and return to the community each evening. The goal of treatment is to help the patient understand their illness, adjust to medication schedules, build coping skills and set recovery goals that will enable them to return to functioning and prevent or reduce inpatient hospitalization. Each patient’s length of stay will depend upon the patient’s individual treatment needs. Treatments are tailored to meet each patient’s needs. The program uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles as well as a wide variety of integrative therapies including art, journaling, occupational therapy and health and wellness. The program embraces a trauma-informed environment of care, which considers all of a patient’s life experiences that might play a role in their mental and physical health. Depending on the needs of each patient, time in the PHP may feature the following components: Medication Management. Group Therapy. Individual Therapy. Family Sessions. The PHP utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to meet each patient’s treatment goals. A psychiatrist-led team consists of experienced clinicians including registered nurses and licensed clinical social workers.
