Applying to the Program

Applications for the Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program should be completed through the American Physical Therapy Association’s centralized application system RF-PTCAS. 

In compliance with the standardized Sports Physical Therapy Residency match process, program applications open on Oct. 1 and close on Dec. 1 each year.

Please note: In order to qualify as a residency candidate for our program, you must:

  1. Provide proof of graduation from a CAPTE (Commission for Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education) accredited Physical Therapy Program.
  2. Pass and the National Physical Therapy Board Examination prior to May 16, 2025.
  3. Provide proof of a valid Oregon Physical Therapy license prior to May 16, 2025.
  4. Possess one or more of the following credentials prior to our program start date in June:
    • Oregon ATC license.
    • EMT.
    • EMR / ERA (Emergency Medical Response / Emergency Medical Response for the Athlete).

Residency Program Match

The Samaritan Athletic Medicine/Oregon State University Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program will be participating in the standardized Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program Match for the upcoming application cycle.

This will process will fill our 2 available Resident positions for our upcoming start date: June 2, 2025. All communication regarding this match process will come through the Match Program, EXXAT, if you receive an interview offer. Good luck, and we look forward to reviewing your application!
