The Samaritan Family Medicine residency trains our residents to care for patients from all walks of life. We are committed to recruiting a diverse group of physicians to our program, and we are mindful of all aspects of identity, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender and gender expression, religion/spiritual practice, and age. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our residents and faculty in the years to come, ensuring the success of our trainees who come from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine, and educating our residents on the inequities that patients continue to experience.

Application Process

We participate in the ERAS program and the NRMP match process. To be considered for admission to the class of 2028, the following materials are required to be submitted through ERAS:

  • ERAS Common Application Form.
  • Personal Statement.
  • Three Letters of Reference (recommendations from family physicians are especially encouraged).
  • Medical School Performance Evaluation (aka Dean’s Letter).
  • Medical School Transcripts.
  • COMLEX Level I or USMLE Step I Score.
  • COMLEX Level II (CE and PE) or USMLE Step II (CS and CK) scores are required prior to intern year; consistent with Samaritan policy.

Applicants will be notified via email if they are selected for an interview. All interviews will be conducted virtually.

International Medical School Graduates

In addition to the items listed above, IMG applicants are also required to submit the ECFMG Certification.

Non-U.S. citizens must possess a Permanent Resident Card prior to starting a postgraduate medical education program. Unfortunately, Samaritan does not sponsor H1-B or J1 visas.

Application Review Process

The program will review every application that meets our initial selection criteria. In addition, we may also use AI in a supportive role to ensure a thorough review of all submissions we receive. We do not rely on AI as the determining factor to rank or select applicants for interviews.
