As a health care organization, our interactions with people are often at particularly difficult — and, sometimes, very joyous — times in their lives. Whether they are employees, patients, health plan members or visitors, our core purpose is to improve community health. We value equity and inclusion as an important way of welcoming all who walk through our doors and we are committed to treating all with respect and dignity.
That commitment, and responsibility, is the driving force behind our Equity and Inclusion Plan. The plan reflects our intent to better understand and address issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, culture, socioeconomic status, language, sexual orientation, age, spirituality and literacy in those with whom we work and for whom we care.
Our plan reflects current organizational data as a baseline, and includes goals and actions, implemented over four years, that align with our four strategic priorities: Quality and Service Excellence, Community Partnership, Employee Engagement and Sustainability.
Samaritan Employee Resource Groups are Samaritan-supported and employee-managed groups that promote the diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and strategies of Samaritan Health Services while promoting personal and professional growth for SHS employees. They comprise people with a shared set of culture, experiences, interests, and perspectives. They also provide opportunities for social support, networking, mentoring and community participation and help promote cultural awareness and employee engagement. Samaritan Employee Resource Groups are open to all SHS employees. There are four SERGs currently offered at Samaritan: DiverseAbility Alliance, Pride Alliance, Veterans and Employees of Color.
