Opioids, Overdose & Outreach Seminar Offered Online & In-Person

Opioids, a class of drugs that includes fentanyl, oxycodone and heroin, has had a devastating impact on lives across the country – but information and resources can help save lives.

To educate and help Lincoln County residents, Samaritan Health Services is hosting a free seminar that will be held online and in person on Thursday, Feb. 20, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Center for Health Education in Newport.

The seminar, Opioids, Overdose and Outreach, will be presented by Jess Noble, Regional Overdose Prevention coordinator with Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties. The following topics will be covered:

  • Overview of opioids.
  • Recognizing and responding to an opioid overdose.
  • Fentanyl, xylazine and polysubstance use.
  • Narcan/naloxone training and distribution.
  • Community resources and support services.
  • Update on the Samaritan Treatment & Recovery Services center opening in Lincoln County in July.

The Samaritan Center for Health Education is located west of Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, at 740 SW Ninth St. in Newport.
