Samaritan Welcomes Alexander Bagley, MD

Alexander Bagley, MD, has joined Samaritan Cancer Program. He uses radiation for the treatment of cancer.

Dr. Bagley earned a bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a doctorate degree from Harvard University and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and residency training at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Bagley was motivated to become a physician for the opportunity to help people enjoy healthier and happier lives. Radiation oncology appealed to him because it applies the latest scientific and technological advances to treat cancer as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Oncologists use radiation therapy in combination with other treatments to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Bagley has experience treating cancer using state-of-the-art radiation techniques, including intensity modulated radiation therapy and 3-D conformal radiation therapy, treatments that shape radiation beams to match the shape of the tumor and spare normal tissues. In addition, he provides stereotactic body radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery, treatments that deliver precise doses of radiation to cancer cells in fewer high-dose treatments than traditional therapy.

Dr. Bagley strives to provide personalized, compassionate care.

“I place a high value on building a strong relationship with my patients by listening carefully to their concerns and developing a treatment plan that best serves their needs and is supported by the strongest evidence,” he said. “I treat each patient with respect and attention to detail.”

Dr. Bagley said he chose Samaritan because it provides the highest quality cancer care.

“It is an honor to serve my patients as part of a dedicated team of health care professionals,” he said.

His wife is originally from Oregon, and he has extended family living in the area. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, hiking, running, swimming, tennis, basketball and reading.

Dr. Bagley is accepting new patients at Samaritan Pastega Regional Cancer Center. He can be reached at 541-768-7722.
