Program Overview

Samaritan Athletic Medicine is home to our Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program. Our state-of-the-art rehabilitation, sports performance and athletics facilities allow our staff and resident to serve Oregon State University, high-school and recreational athletes alike.

Our program is accredited through the American Board of Physical Therapy – Residency & Fellowship Education, and has a 100% resident graduation rate.

Mentoring & Leadership 

Samaritan Athletic Medicine’s Sports Physical Therapy Residency program is one of the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. As a resident, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our expert faculty and benefit from their depth and breadth of specialty experience. Frequent collaboration with Oregon State Athletics is a cornerstone of our program.

Preparing for Specialization

Our intensive 14-month residency program is targeted to train high-quality residents and prepare them for success on the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties examination in Sports Physical Therapy. Our program graduates have a 100% Sports Physical Therapy Board Certification pass rate.

Clinical mentoring takes place at Samaritan Athletic Medicine and Oregon State University’s athletic training facilities. 

Didactic material is comprised of comprehensive materials, labs, one-on-one mentoring, and presentations from the program’s highly trained faculty and sports medicine team.

 

Our Current Residents

Our residents are currently completing post-doctorate training as sports physical therapist residents to enhance their sports medicine skills and treatment. They see patients at Samaritan Athletic Medicine Center in Corvallis.

Larissa Rosano, PT, DPT, CSCS, is from Tucson, Arizona and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from the University of Arizona.

Larissa is from Tucson, Arizona and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from the University of Arizona. She then received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northern Arizona University. Larissa aims to create a meaningful impact in her patients’ lives by helping them achieve their goals and return to the activities they enjoy. She is passionate about injury prevention and patient education, as she feels like knowledge helps ensure that her patient’s feel empowered in their recovery journey.

 

Andre Cabalang, PT, DPT, CSCS, completed his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Andre completed his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Andre is passionate about working with a high performance team, where he strives to blend rehabilitation and performance. Andre approaches all patient care with the goal of bringing patients from their initial injury or surgery, all the way back to performing at their full potential.
