Voting Is Underway for Outstanding Nurse Awards

Two Samaritan nurses have been nominated for the annual Vote for an Outstanding Nurse campaign conducted by the Corvallis Gazette-Times.

Nurses who have made a significant impact on the lives of others were nominated by the community in February. Nine nurses will be chosen by the newspaper’s judging panel and one nurse will be chosen by a community vote, which is open now through Thursday, March 30. The winning nurses will be featured in the newspaper’s special section during National Nurses Week in May.

The Samaritan Health Services nurses who were nominated are:

Judee Barnes, RN, Samaritan Albany General Hospital medical-surgical unit

Nomination: “Judee goes above and beyond in caring for patients and shows obvious PRIDE (passion, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence) daily. Judee is always willing to help, and I cannot express how much I appreciate her expertise and advise. I know I can count on Judee to answer any questions and that she will ‘give it to me straight.’ I have absolutely no doubt she treats her patients with the upmost care and respect. She also takes any patient or patient’s family concerns very seriously and tries her best to resolve any concerns she can.”

Bryan Stephens, LPN, Samaritan Urgent Care – Corvallis

Nomination: “Bryan is a welcoming presence at the urgent care. Generally, when you need urgent attention, you are stressed or worried, but Bryan helps calm the nerves with his gentle and friendly demeanor. As a parent to several, I have visited the urgent care enough times that I often joke that a room should be named after our family. I always feel safer and more cared for when Bryan is working.”
