Urologist Returns to His Roots to Care for Patients October 4, 2017 Lebanon native, Urologist Ross Wopat, MD, has returned to his roots to offer care to patients in Albany and Lebanon. Dr. Wopat grew up in Lebanon in a family deeply engrained in health care. From 2008 through 2011, he was a recipient of the Frank Girod, MD, Medical Scholarship, which is administered annually through the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation. “Many of my family members have worked in health care, so I’ve been exposed to it my entire life,” said Dr. Wopat. “My biggest inspiration though is my father, Richard Wopat, MD. He’s been a family physician in Lebanon for more than 30 years.” Dr. Wopat will provide comprehensive urological care, with a focus on minimally invasive surgery such as laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy for diseases affecting the kidneys, ureters, bladder and prostate. He also has a particular interest in kidney stone surgery, reconstructive operations to treat urethral stricture disease, male incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Dr. Wopat’s education background includes a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University, medical degree from Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and residency training in urology at Oregon Health & Science University. “I’m very excited to work with an organization that has such intimate ties with the area where I grew up. The mid-Willamette Valley has given so much to me, I am fortunate and excited to be able to give something back,” said Dr. Wopat. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, attending sporting events, traveling and adding to his collection of craft beer.
