SHS Introduces Boysen Community Champion Award

Nominations are now open for the inaugural Boysen Community Champion Award, which will honor an employee, provider, volunteer or community partner whose work reflects Samaritan’s mission and PRIDE values of passion, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence while making a lasting difference in the health and well-being of our region.

In addition to living out these values, nominees must also demonstrate meaningful community involvement. Nominations should briefly describe the individual’s outreach, volunteer service, partnerships, or other efforts that have positively impacted the communities we serve.

Samaritan Health Services Board of Directors has established the new annual award in honor of Doug Boysen, who served as president and CEO beginning in early 2018 after a long tenure that included roles as vice president, general counsel and later executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

Under his leadership, Samaritan built two new hospitals, expanded clinical programs and navigated the COVID-19 pandemic. Boysen also modeled community commitment through volunteer service and participation in regional health care boards, reflecting the spirit of engagement this award is intended to recognize.

Nominations for the award will be accepted through Wednesday, April 15. A committee of the SHS Board will review submissions and select the recipient, and the winner will be announced in May during Celebrating Samaritans festivities.

We invite our community to help recognize the quiet leaders and dedicated advocates whose everyday actions strengthen Samaritan and the communities we serve. Together, we look forward to celebrating those who lead with heart, extend their impact beyond the workplace, and continue the spirit of service inspired by Doug Boysen.
