SamFit Albany Looks for End of December Reopening

“We can see the light,” said Alyssa Wink, director of Wellness & Fitness of Samaritan’s SamFit locations.

This is literal and figurative as progress to restore the heavily fire damaged fitness center started September 2022.

The literal light came after concrete cutters added three large windows to the main area of the facility. Now, with all the permits obtained and several inspections completed, the figurative light is SamFit Albany having more of a defined end time to the project.

“Our contractors have been hard at work replacing electrical and reframing the interior of the SamFit Albany building,” said Wink. “Now that framing has been replaced and fire damaged areas repaired, things are progressing rapidly.”

Work continues with exterior restoration and painting, and electrical replacement and upgrades planned for completion in October.

Once the electrical work is signed off, drywalling crews can finish their work, which will leave flooring and interior painting.

“We look forward to moving the exercise equipment in to open by end of December,” said Wink.  “It will be a very thankful holiday season to have our doors reopened. The SamFit team is thankful for the continued support from the Albany community.”
