Samaritan Welcomes Tyler Andrea, DO November 22, 2022 Play Video Nephrologist Tyler Andrea, DO, has joined Samaritan Kidney Specialists – Corvallis. He also sees patients at Samaritan Kidney Specialists – Albany and Samaritan Medical Group Kidney Care – Newport. He specializes in treating kidney disease and hypertension. Dr. Andrea earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Wisconsin-Parkside and a medical degree at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest. He completed residency training at St. John Medical Center and a fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at Allegheny General Hospital. He has clinical interest in kidney replacement therapy modalities, including in-center and home hemodialysis, as well as home peritoneal dialysis. “The most common form of kidney replacement therapy is in-center dialysis. However, home modalities allow for more independence and decrease the time spent traveling to and receiving treatment,” he said. Early in life, medical problems impacted his family both financially and physically. Those experiences motivated him to pursue a career in medicine. “I recognized that I could take my education and skills and apply them in a way that can bring the most good to the most amount of people,” he said. Dr. Andrea values collaboration, community and justice. He chose Samaritan because his focus aligns with the organization’s focus on preventive care and community outreach. He also wanted to return to the Pacific Northwest after attending medical school in Lebanon. He is married to Family Physician Sea-oh McConville, DO, who recently joined Samaritan Family Medicine Resident Clinic. Away from the office, Dr. Andrea enjoys gardening, furniture and hand tool restoration, reading and spending time outside in nature with his spouse and rescue dog Olive. “She fills our life with love and begging,” he said.
