Samaritan Welcomes Psychologist JoAnna Elmquist, PhD February 8, 2021 JoAnna Elmquist, PhD, has joined Samaritan Family Medicine – Geary Street. As a psychologist, she provides behavioral health care and support for the primary care patients at the clinic. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Trinity University, as well as a master’s degree and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from University of Tennessee. She completed an internship at Medical University of South Carolina and a fellowship at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Elmquist chose her career to reduce the stigma associated with mental health care and to provide greater access and understanding of psychological treatments. She specializes in treating eating disorders, substance use and trauma. She chose Samaritan because the health system’s values match her commitment to providing patient-focused compassionate care. In her free time, Dr. Elmquist enjoys spending time outdoors, running, hiking and bicycling. She is accepting new patients and can be reached at 541-812-5570.
