Samaritan Welcomes Psychologist Geoffrey Schaubhut, PhD November 4, 2021 Play Video Psychologist Geoffrey Schaubhut, PhD, has joined Park Street Clinic and Main Street Family Medicine in Lebanon. He provides behavioral health care and support. Dr. Schaubhut earned a bachelor’s degree at University of North Dakota, and a master’s degree and doctoral degree in clinical psychology at University of Vermont. He completed an internship at Community Counseling Center of Mercer County and a residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Dr. Schaubhut recognizes that seeing a psychologist can be intimidating, particularly for people who are experiencing depression or trauma. “The opportunity to meet somebody and help them through a moment of difficulty is why I became a psychologist,” he said. He uses cognitive behavioral therapy as the predominant model in his practice, although he also integrates components from motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. “I use the first session to get to know my patients and what thoughts, experiences and behaviors they might be struggling with and that might be adding difficulty to their lives,” he said. After working for Samaritan during his residency, he was excited to continue the experience as a behavioral health specialist.
