Samaritan Welcomes Mary Abraham, MD

Mary Abraham, MD, has joined Samaritan Rheumatology. She treats conditions and diseases that affect the joints, muscles and bones that cause pain, swelling, stiffness and deformity.

Dr. Abraham earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Union College and a medical degree at Albany Medical College. She completed residency training at Drexel University College of Medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at Emory University School of Medicine. She is board-certified in rheumatology and internal medicine.

Dr. Abraham specializes in arthrocentesis, to remove excess fluid from a joint, and joint injections. She chose her specialty because she wanted to help people when they are experiencing difficulties. She enjoys the challenge of finding the right treatment.

“Often when a patient comes to me, the symptoms can be vague,” Dr. Abraham said. “I think of symptoms as mysteries and I’m the detective putting it together.”

She sees herself as a coach and sounding board, to both listen and allow her patients to ask questions so they understand the medical decisions they are making.

She chose Samaritan because she appreciates the community approach to taking care of patients.

“Samaritan exemplifies excellent patient care,” Dr. Abraham said. “That goes along with my approach.”

Away from the office, she enjoys international travel, dancing and spending time with her husband and family.

She is accepting new patients and referrals at Samaritan Rheumatology at 541-768-5800.
