Samaritan Welcomes Lakshna Sankar, MD August 9, 2023 Play Video Nephrologist Lakshna Sankar, MD, has joined Samaritan Kidney Specialists – Corvallis. She specializes in treating kidney disease and high blood pressure. She earned a medical degree at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute and completed residency training in internal medicine at Canton Medical Education Foundation and in pathology at Coimbatore Medical College. She completed a fellowship in nephrology at Geisinger Medical Center. She was inspired to become a physician by a trusted, knowledgeable doctor who cared for a family member. She strives to provide the same well-rounded and compassionate care to her patients. “I want to walk with them through their entire journey, whether that be a transplant, dialysis or end-of-life care,” Dr. Sankar said. She chose nephrology for the intellectual challenge of the specialty. Working at Samaritan also appealed to her because she lives near family. “The other reason is I wanted to be a part of a community-based hospital,” she said. Away from the office, Dr. Sankar likes doing artwork, including quilling, glass painting and pencil sketching, as well as spending time with family.
