Samaritan Welcomes Jacquelyn Corley, MD

Jacquelyn Corley, MD, has joined Samaritan Brain & Spine Surgery – Corvallis. She specializes in neurosurgery.

She earned a bachelor’s degree at The College of William and Mary and a medical degree at Rush Medical College of Rush University. She completed residency training at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Corley was inspired to become a doctor after reading “Mountains Beyond Mountains,” a book about the life of Paul Farmer, MD, PhD, the founder of global health organization Partners in Health.

“It showed me the influence that a doctor can have in not just one person’s life but in many,” she said.

She was drawn to surgery during her training and chose her specialty because of the complexity of the cases.

“The impact that a neurosurgeon can make is profound,” she said.

Dr. Corley’s approach to care is to help her patients find the right treatment.

“It’s not my job to tell a patient what we need to do. It’s my job to explain the options and support them and their decision,” she said.

Community is important to Dr. Corley, and she was looking to start her career in a place that aligned with her values. Samaritan’s mission of Building Healthier Communities Together appealed to her.

“I want to treat patients regardless of who they are or where they are in life,” she said.

Away from the office, Dr. Corley enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family and dog.

She can be reached by calling Samaritan Brain & Spine Surgery – Corvallis at 541-768-4501.
