Samaritan Welcomes Internist Stacy Braff, MD October 14, 2021 Play Video Stacy Braff, MD, has joined Samaritan Internal Medicine – Corvallis. Dr. Braff provides primary care to adult patients. Dr. Braff earned a bachelor’s degree at SUNY at Stony Brook and a medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center. She was motivated to become a physician because of the devastation cause of the devastation caused by the AIDS crisis. “I felt like I should be doing something to help,” Dr. Braff said. As an internal medicine physician, she also recognized an ever-increasing need to address the obesity epidemic. Dr. Braff became board certified in medical weight loss so she could help patients manage obesity. Medical weight loss can be an alternative to bariatric surgery, including Samaritan Weight Management Institute’s Precision Wellness, a 16-week evidence-based lifestyle change program. Medical weight loss can also be also be used in preparation for weight loss surgery, or after surgery to maintain a healthy weight. When her daughter moved to Oregon to attend college, she was looking for a new location to practice medicine that had easy access to trails. “I loved the greenery that Corvallis offered and the downtown area,” she said. She values empathy and respects all forms of life. “I have a love and respect for animals,” Dr. Braff said. Away from the office, she enjoys running, cycling and spending time with her family and dog. She has completed a full Ironman triathlon and many shorter-distance races, as well as two 50-mile trail ultramarathons. “I want to complete a 100-mile race,” she said.
