Samaritan Welcomes Emily Balser, MD

Emily Balser, MD, has joined Samaritan Medical Group Family Medicine – Ninth St. in Corvallis. She provides primary care for people of all ages.

Dr. Balser earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Puget Sound and a medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. She completed residency training at Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Balser wanted a career where she could make an impact.

“Being a doctor is the perfect balance, blending science and the wonderment of being in service to others,” she said. “It is a privilege to advocate for a healthy community.”

She chose family medicine because she enjoys the long-term relationships with her patients, from newborns to senior adults.

Dr. Balser has a special interest in mental health and fitness. She offers family planning and other minor in-office procedures.

She seeks to build an understanding with her patients based on trust.

“The most important thing I can do is really listen and make sure they feel heard,” she said.

She has strong ties to the Pacific Northwest. She was born in Portland. After completing her residency, she stayed in Renton, Washington, where she cared for some of her patients for 19 years. Her family chose Corvallis because it is her husband’s hometown.

Away from the office, she enjoys biking, hiking, watching movies, walking her dog and participating in book clubs.

Dr. Balser can be reached at Samaritan Medical Group Family Medicine – Ninth St. at 541-768-1840.
