Samaritan Welcomes Divine Ribakare, DO

Divine Ribakare, DO, has joined Samaritan Kidney Specialists – Corvallis. She specializes in treating kidney disease and hypertension.

She earned a bachelor’s degree at Winston-Salem State University and a medical degree at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed residency training at Christ Hospital and a fellowship in nephrology at Oregon Health & Science University.

Dr. Ribakare wanted to become a nephrologist because her uncle died of kidney disease. Her approach to patient care is to make people feel comfortable.

“When I meet them, they are vulnerable; they want someone they can rely on,” she said. “I treat my patients like family.”

She decided to return to Oregon to practice because of the positive experiences she had while living here during her fellowship.

Dr. Ribakare was born and raised in Burundi, a country in Central East Africa. She witnessed gaps in medical care and it inspired her to become a physician.

“One day, I want to go back and see if I can make a difference,” she said.

In her free time, Dr. Ribakare enjoys swimming, cooking and spending time with family.

“I have a 10-year-old daughter and she loves dancing. So every night, we pick a song and we dance,” she said. “That’s the highlight of my day.”

Dr. Ribakare is accepting new patients and referrals. For more information, call Samaritan Kidney Specialists – Corvallis at 541-768-6930.
