Communities Learn About Planned MultiCare Affiliation at Town Halls

Hundreds of community members across Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties participated in Samaritan’s six in-person town halls and a virtual session, held in November and December, to learn more about the planned affiliation with MultiCare.

Each session was hosted by Marty Cahill, president and CEO of Samaritan Health Services, alongside hospital and system leaders. Attendees in Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Lincoln City, Newport and virtually online heard an in-depth overview of the planned affiliation, including what it means for access to care, future services and investments. Each presentation was followed by an open Q & A session where community members could share feedback and get answers to their questions.

“Samaritan and MultiCare announced our planned affiliation in October, and these town halls were an important opportunity to meet with people in person and online,” said Cahill. “We are grateful to everyone who took the time to attend, listen and share their perspectives. We heard a great deal of positive feedback, as well as many thoughtful, important questions.”

The latest town hall was a virtual event held Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025.

An updated list of questions and answers, including new questions from the town halls, is available at samhealth.org/Affiliation.

The planned affiliation between Samaritan and MultiCare is designed to strengthen health care across the region by enhancing quality, supporting affordability, and advancing health equity. Under the affiliation agreement, MultiCare has committed to invest a minimum of $700 million to modernize Samaritan’s facilities, expand primary and specialty care, and provide new technologies and telehealth capabilities to improve patient experience and access — all while helping lower the cost of care.

Samaritan and MultiCare have submitted a joint application for affiliation to the Oregon Health Authority, beginning a review process that typically takes six months or more.

Additional community town halls will be scheduled in early 2026 as the affiliation process continues. In the meantime, you can learn more at samhealth.org/Affiliation, or email questions and comments to[email protected].
