Samaritan Endoscopy Gets Top Honors by U.S. News & World Report April 15, 2026 Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center’s Samaritan Endoscopy Center has been named one of the nation’s top-rated ambulatory surgery centers for colonoscopy and endoscopy by U.S. News & World Report. “This recognition translates to confidence for our patients,” said Gregory Schwartz, MD, medical director of GSRMC Gastroenterology. “Confidence in knowing that when they visit the Samaritan Endoscopy Center, they will be treated by a highly skilled team that will take care of them throughout their stay with us.” Samaritan Endoscopy Center is one of only three centers in Oregon to receive the 2026 Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers recognition by U.S. News, which was announced earlier this spring. The other two recognized sites in Oregon were Oregon Clinic Endoscopy Center locations in the Portland area. “We are proud to represent Samaritan in this way,” said Dr. Schwartz, who has been a gastroenterologist here since 2006. The 2026 ratings are based on Medicare fee-for-service claims data from 2022 through 2024. The data were reviewed by Arcadia, a health care data analysis company, using information from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. “For our co-workers, it represents the end result of years of teamwork and collaboration to build an outpatient endoscopy center that delivers excellence and superior care in all aspects,” Dr. Schwartz said. “We’ve done it by setting high standards and having expectations of ourselves, emphasizing commitment, accountability, work ethic and above all PRIDE!” U.S. News evaluated 17 types of episodes of care grouped into four specialty areas: colonoscopy and endoscopy; ophthalmology; orthopedics and spine; and urology. Reflecting the lower risk of outpatient procedures, the threshold for a high performing designation was expanded to the top 15% of ambulatory surgery centers by composite score. In prior years, recognition was limited to approximately the top 10%.
