Pollywog Offers Parenting Support & Resources June 10, 2020 Even the best parent can sometimes use a helping hand. Now, finding helpful resources, classes and other support is just a click or call away for parents in our region, through Pollywog. Pollywog has served Linn County families for several years and recently expanded into Lincoln County with grant support from IHN-CCO and the Oregon Community Foundation. The ultimate goal is for the program to also be available in Benton County. “Pollywog offers a listening ear, a helping hand and a kind heart for parents who need help through a bumpy time or who just want some great ideas on how to help their child succeed,” said Sommer McLeish, a community health program coordinator with Samaritan Health Services, which is a Pollywog partner. “One feature on the website that is really great is the blog written by a local mom. She is so encouraging as she shares her parenting experiences.” Pollywog brings together the many health care, parenting education, and early childhood services already available for children and their families locally, into one easy-to-navigate website, pollywogfamily.org. While Pollywog focuses on prenatal through age 6, the Lincoln County program is also serving families with children through age 17. Spanish bilingual staff are available, too. “Pollywog is a great cross-communication tool. Once the parent reaches out to us, we can share information with them now and through the years as their child grows,” McLeish said. All parents are invited to visit pollywogfamily.org and fill out the contact form or call 541-917-4884 weekdays.
