National Awards Honor Samaritan Stroke Care July 21, 2026 Patients experiencing a stroke at any Samaritan hospital can be confident they’re receiving care that meets national standards. All five Samaritan hospitals in Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties have earned Get With The Guidelines-Stroke awards by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. The recognition honors hospitals that consistently provide evidence-based stroke care using the latest scientific guidelines. Recognition Earned by Each Samaritan Hospital Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center – Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. Samaritan Albany General Hospital – Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll. Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital – Stroke Bronze and Rural Stroke Silver. Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital – Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Rural Stroke Gold. Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital – Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll and Rural Stroke Gold. “Each award represents the dedication our teams bring to stroke care across every hospital,” said Mary Jackson, RN, Samaritan Stroke Program coordinator. “It reflects countless moments of coordination, quick decision-making and compassion. We’re proud of the care we provide and the impact it has on our patients and community.” Key Measures of Stroke Care Quality To qualify for the awards, hospitals must meet specific goals in comprehensive stroke care and quality measures developed to minimize the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital until treatment with the clot-busting medication, such as tenecteplase, which can significantly reduce the chance of permanent disability when given quickly after stroke symptoms begin. Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite recognizes hospitals that provide clot-busting medication within 60 minutes of a patient’s arrival for at least 85% of eligible patients. Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognizes hospitals that provide evidence-based stroke care for patients with Type 2 diabetes, a group at higher risk for stroke complications. Rural Stroke recognizes rural hospitals that meet performance measures designed specifically for rural healthcare settings. Longstanding Commitment to Stroke Readiness Samaritan Albany General Hospital has been a Primary Stroke Center since 2019, and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center has been a Primary Stroke Center since 2012. Primary Stroke Centers are hospitals equipped to rapidly diagnose and treat stroke patients, particularly those experiencing ischemic strokes, which are caused by blood clots.
