Local Artwork Sought for New Treatment & Recovery Facility

Samaritan ArtsCare and the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation are collaborating on a project that will highlight local artwork inside the new Samaritan Treatment & Recovery Services facility in Newport.

Opening in summer 2025, this is the first residential and outpatient treatment center in Lincoln County serving adults 18 and older who wish to heal and reclaim their lives from substance use disorder.

Thanks to the generosity of local donors, the PCHD Foundation will purchase art from both artists and art collectors, and will also accept donations.

“Artwork donations will be accepted, but we also want to support local, working artists through purchase,” said Karla Clem, foundation executive director.

“An ArtsCare selection committee, which includes volunteer community members and Samaritan staff, will review proposals and make final selections of local artwork to create a soothing and healing environment for all who enter the new facility,” she said.

Preference will be given to artists and collectors from Lincoln County, as well as those who have lived experience with substance use disorder.

Artwork proposal applications will be accepted through 5 p.m., Friday, May 16.
