Dates for Light up a Life Remembrance Scheduled for 2026 September 1, 2026 Each November, Samaritan Evergreen Hospice hosts a celebration called Light up a Life in Lebanon and Newport. This annual event brings people together to remember loved ones who have passed and to support hospice patients and their families. This year’s event offers both in person events and a virtual option. For those wishing to attend in person, two local remembrances will be held: Coast Event: Sunday, Nov. 1 – in Newport. Valley Event: Sunday, Nov. 15 – in Lebanon. For those wishing to participate in the virtual event,you can join online at samhealth.org/LUAL2026 beginning on Friday, Nov. 20. Visitors will be able to see reflections from hospice chaplains, a memorial slideshow of hospice patients and the annual candle lighting tribute. “The holidays can bring a lot of emotion for people who are grieving. At Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, we believe comfort, compassion and support are essential throughout the end-of-life and grieving processes,” said Ellen Unger, bereavement coordinator at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany. “Our Light up a Life events offer a meaningful opportunity to remember the people we’ve lost and connect with others who understand the journey of grief. Whether attending in person or virtually, people can take a moment to reflect, share memories and find comfort in one another. Because the virtual ceremony remains available for a year, families and friends can also return to it together during the holidays or whenever they need a moment to remember and honor someone they love.”
