Light up a Life Remembrance Returns With Live & Virtual Events September 3, 2024 Each November, Samaritan Evergreen Hospice hosts a celebration called Light up a Life in Lebanon, Lincoln City and Newport. This annual event brings people together to remember loved ones who have passed and to support hospice patients and their families. This year’s event offers both in person events and a virtual option. For those wishing to attend in person, remembrances will be held at the following locations; see additional information for each event: Lincoln City – Friday, Nov. 1– The Beach Club. Newport – Friday, Nov. 8 – Center for Health Education. Lebanon – Sunday, Nov. 17 – Boulder Falls Event Center. For those wishing to participate in the virtual event, you can join online at samhealth.org/LUAL2024 beginning on Friday, Nov. 22. Visitors will be able to see reflections from hospice chaplains, a memorial slideshow of hospice patients and the annual candle lighting tribute. “The holiday season can be difficult when grieving a loss. With comfort and end-of-life care being amongst the most essential services, our Evergreen Hospice philosophy affirms life and supports the dying and grieving processes,” said Cindy Thelen, bereavement coordinator at Evergreen Hospice House in Albany. “Our autumn Light up a Life ceremonies, both in person and virtual, are moving occasions to pause and comfort each other, share the journey of loss, grief, love and healing, as well as mourn those who have gone before us. The virtual event link will be live for up to a year, so the ceremony can be shared at gatherings such as Thanksgiving or during a springtime visit from a friend.”
