Get Seen Sooner With MyChart July 13, 2026 Want the opportunity to be seen sooner? MyChart makes it easy.Patients with upcoming appointments can opt in to receive notifications when earlier openings become available. When an opening is offered, you’ll have the chance to claim it and move your appointment to an earlier date. How It Works If you’re on the appointment wait list and an earlier appointment becomes available, MyChart will send a notification to a small group of patients (fewer than 10) whose appointment needs match the opening.Appointments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so the first patient to accept the offer gets the available spot.If the appointment isn’t claimed within about an hour, the opportunity may be offered to another group of patients. Responding to an Offer When you receive a notification, review the appointment details and respond quickly if the new time works for you.If the offered appointment doesn’t fit your schedule, simply ignore the notification. You’ll continue to receive future offers for that visit if other openings become available. If you choose to decline the offer, you won’t receive additional earlier appointment offers for the same visit. How to Opt In Most patients with appointments can join the wait list through MyChart. To opt in: Open your upcoming appointment in MyChart. Look for the option indicating you’d like to be seen earlier. Select the option to receive earlier appointment offers. You can also opt out at any time. Increase Your Chances of Seeing an Offer To receive notifications as quickly as possible, make sure your communication preferences are up to date. Log in to MyChart. Go to Settings > Account Settings > Communication Preferences. Choose to receive notifications by text message (recommended) and/or email. Because appointment openings can be claimed quickly, timely notifications can help you take advantage of available opportunities. Available at Most Locations This feature is available to patients at most Samaritan clinic locations. While a small number of specialty areas do not participate, most patients with appointments can use this feature to look for an earlier appointment. “This really works great, especially for new patients, who often have to wait a bit for an appointment,” said Rebekah Ashdown, Samaritan Medical Group associate vice president of Clinic Patient Access. “The more we can fill vacated appointments, the more people can get the care they need.” MyChart Samarian is constantly updating MyChart features.“Using MyChart has a lot of benefits to managing your health and I encourage everyone to use it,” said Jan Hull, Information Systems director of clinical design. “From messaging your provider, to viewing after-visit summaries, reviewing lab and imaging results, requesting prescriptions and paying bills, having MyChart in your hip pocket puts all your healthcare details in one place.” Need Help?
