Family Resource Event Features Physicians, Car Seat Coaching

Samaritan Early Learning Center is hosting an event for families that will connect them with local pediatricians, resources and information to help keep their children healthy and safe. The family resource event will take place Wednesday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the campus of Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital.

“Finding the right doctor to care for your child is a personal choice. We hope that by meeting our pediatricians in person, this important decision will be easier to make,” said Kelsey Culbertson, center director. “We are also pleased to present other helpful information and resources.”

This event will take place in a small building located in the parking lot of Samaritan’s Building 5, 3011 NE 28th St.

Registration and appointments are not needed at this event, but for more information call Samaritan Early Learning Center at 541-994-4208.

Meet the Pediatricians

Caitlyn Anglin, DO, and Tori Smith, DO, will network with families at this first-time event. Dr. Smith joined the medical practice at Samaritan Lincoln City Medical Center in November 2021, followed by Dr. Anglin in September 2022.

Car Seat Information & Resources

Also during the event, free car seat safety checks and coaching will be provided by Culbertson and another center employee, Melissa Collard. Both women are certified child care seat technicians. The safety check and one-on-one coaching will take approximately 30 minutes.

“Your child is precious and relies on you for protection, but nearly half of all car seats are used incorrectly,” Culbertson said. “We hope parents, grandparents and others who transport young ones will take advantage of this learning opportunity.”

In addition, North Lincoln Hospital Foundation is providing funding for car seats for families in need.

“We don’t want a family’s financial situation to prevent kids from having the right car seat for their size and age, so we are glad to have this resource for them,” Culbertson said.
