The academic year consists of 13 blocks, which are a mix of two- and four-week rotations, with longitudinal elements embedded throughout your three years of training. There are longitudinal experiences in continuity clinic, leadership, pediatrics, geriatrics, obstetrics and osteopathic manipulative medicine. A sample of the Family Medicine curriculum is listed below.
Continuity clinic will be each week except when on away rotations. Days in Continuity Clinic are adjusted per rotation. All residents are limited to one half day of clinic per week while on inpatient rotations.
Our didactic program is a two-year rotating curriculum focused on the tenets of family medicine with simulation and procedural experiences. This takes place every Wednesday afternoon where you are protected from clinic and rotation duties.
During your residency training, you will participate in two scholarly activities. We have two goals for all residents:
Samaritan Health Services has a medical library and librarian to help you gather you research and articles. Once you have your data, we have two statisticians to help you synthesize your data and prepare it for publication.
