The perioperative internship program is designed to provide the new grad or a new to specialty nurse with the basics and building upon fundamentals of perioperative standards. In conjunction with the six-month New Grad Transition to Practice program, the perioperative program provides support, mentoring and education based on application of knowledge and clinical skills beyond the traditional orientation plan.
The perioperative program will focus on communication, patient outcomes, role development and safety as it relates to selected topics and development of clinical judgement. The format for this class includes online modules, simulation, discussion and guest speakers, and will be tailored to the participants’ needs.

Applications for the summer program are generally accepted from April to June, with the program starting in August. Applications for the winter program are generally accepted from November to December, with the program starting in February.
