Advance Directives Workshop Held Monthly in Newport July 13, 2026 Would your health care wishes be honored if you were unable to speak for yourself because of illness or injury? Each month, Samaritan Health Services offers a free Advance Directive Workshop to help you explore your health care decisions and to fill out an advance directive. The workshop is facilitated by Chaplain Pauline Morrison, who serves patients at the two Samaritan hospitals in Lincoln County. Topics include: Advance directives conversation starters. Appointing a health care representative. Documenting your desires in the matter of critical life support. Brief introduction to physician orders for life-sustaining treatment (POLST). The workshops are held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Samaritan Center for Health Education in Newport, 740 SW Ninth St., west of Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital.
